Hello...its beeen a while since i wrote something here. Well as you can see this entry its about my very first taekwondo (TKD) competition. I somehow got hooked onto 2 yrs back...but because I was in aussie for two years iI dindt really carry on learning there. So now that i'm back i decide to carry on learning it.

I have been training for this competition for about two weeks yes its a bit short coz i decide to enter it quite late. I must say its really different to spar at your own training ground as compared to sparring at some competiition. Since it was my first competeition needless to say i lost...but my teacher/coach (pervert) had high hopes for me. I felt i disappoint him. sigh.

4mth since i came back from aussie, managed to get a job at Singapore eye research Inst. as a Research Officer. Sigh the place is so run down as compared to my honours in aussie, everything had to be made rather than in a special kit. Though the pay is ok I dont find it as fun doing research as compared to when i was doing my honours. wait..brb.. time is up for my western blot

Back! & i got nothing after doing the whole day. As i was saying, working life and doing honours is soo different. My honours lab no matter how busy you/we are they are always joking/chit chatting in the lab. Everything nice and easy, you plan your day to be smooth running. As for here, iI am constantly bug by a post doc constantly wanting results. I can only work that fast and  certain experiment require 1-2 hrs incubation time therfore there is nothing i can do abt that.  Maybe I just had too good of a life in my honours lab coz everything is ready made bought from companies like invitrogen.

And now i'm sick and i cant take MC coz i have set up my experiments running but no one can take over coz nobody knows what i'm doing. However I have been tasked to do the work of others when I dont even know what they are doing. So ended up I just do for the sake of doing,  dont even understand whats going on. sigh...but what to do just have to endure as this is my first job and i'm still under probation. Maybe i'll leave after 1 year..see how la.

I'm back in sunny singapore after two longs years in Brisbane. Now i'm back for good currently looking for a job. Sigh Job hunting isnt as easy as it sounds. Alot of efffort has o be into doing up a nice presentable resume, going online website to look for jobs, reading up the company, sending nice emails for the application. And when all that is done you have to wait for someone to give reply telling you have been shortlisted. As of now i send out a numbe of resume but i have recieved 0 replies. Sigh.

On a lighter note, my family came over to aussie during the CNY period and we went travelling before flying bcak to singapore. This was also the first time i met my 9 mth old nephew, Hurwitz Ho (dont ask me why he name is like that). He can be soo cute at times and can turn into a small monster when he starts screaming. Thats him when he is behaving isnt he adorable? haha.

Met up with noel and gang for dinner. Because of me (deprived of local food) we went around eating. Firstly we dinner at thai express which could not fill my stomach, then we headed to clark quay and had satay & BBQ sting ray...mmmm yum.

On the night that i was back i met up with my mahjong kakis who bought me old chang ki. I could have won untill i was bao-ed by mabel. sigh maybe i'm just not cut out for mahjong.  

 

After a year of hard work i finally got my results!! haha i'm sure some of you know this already, I got class IIA or 2nd uppper for my honours. YEAH!!

When i check my results this morning, i was told (someone had to check for me coz my internet was slow) i got grades 6 (thesis) 6 (seminar & commnication skills) & 5 ( product developmental proposal). i was thinking erm...ok whats does all mean?! what class do i belong to?! then another friend got 7 7 5 and she was worried she cannot get class I and because of that i was affected if she got so high and didnt get first class honours then i might not even get 2nd upper.

Then an email came in like 1015 am telling all the biotech honours to go collect their results from then biotech office. They gave us back all the reports we had done and a folder consisting of the break down of marks and honours class we belong to.

I'll be really totally disappointed if i got class 2B after all the work hard i put in into my project. Going to the lab like almost everyday, weekends, public holidays, winter holidays. Oh well its finally over class 2A is good. though i'm like 1.9% short of getting class I but i'm happy to get 2A.

I finally found xiao pui pui after years of searching!! i found him/her/it after looking through the net for like two whole day (with encouragement from xiao pang). Then i found it on ebay at USD$7.99 but the stupid thing is the shipping cost USD$22. So it came up to a totaly cost of about S$40!! heartache but it worth it lor.

Yes today marks the end of my honours year!! woo hoo!! i hope the seminar i gave was good enough. Think i didnt really answered some of the questions properly but oh well everything is over now. now i'll just have to wait for what grade i'll get for my honours then. Till then i'll enjoy myself. One year of suffering, coming to the lab almost every weekend for 2 whole months. No holidays during the winter break. staying up till wee hours in the morning to write my thesis and getting scolded by my supervisor constantly for not meeting her standards.

But that is all over now!! i'll proably take one week off from the lab before i continue my project for summer. I have to start looking for jobs when i go back to sg in feb. Have to get a high paying one in order to pay back my huge debt. qouting form my mum " one month you have to give me 2k hor as monthly allowances"
